Nursing Home

In November 2002, the national Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) launched a national initiative to improve quality of care in nursing homes by publicly reporting on Nursing Home Compare nursing homes’ performances on ten quality measures.
We are working with Missouri Association of Homes for the Aging, Missouri Association of Nursing Home Administrators, and Missouri Health Care Association to provide workshops statewide to provide clinical training on these issues. We are also providing leadership training for nursing home administrators and directors of nursing, to assist them in supporting staff efforts in these areas.
Primaris also hosts quality improvement collaboratives, groups of facilities who work on a common clinical topic (such as pain management) with other nursing facilities in Missouri. Participants share ideas and practices that have been successful and learn how others have overcome common barriers. If you are interested in joining our next collaborative, call or e-mail Alexis Roam at (800) 735-6776 ext. 161 or aroam@primaris.org. We can also work with your organization to develop a company-specific collaborative for a group of commonly-owned or managed nursing facilities.
As Missouri’s Medicare Quality Improvement Organization, Primaris has a variety of free clinical tools and resources available to assist nursing homes further enhance the quality of the services they provide in a number of areas. Also, get regular ADL, pain and pressure ulcer updates from Primaris via our listerv. To join, e-mail nfieleke@primaris.org and indicate which areas you wish to receive updates and notification when new projects, tools and resources are added.
