Advancing Excellence in America's Nursing Homes seeks excellence in the quality of life and quality of care for the more than 1.5 million American nursing home residents by enhancing choice, strengthening workforce, and improving clinical outcomes.

The campaign will track eight key indicators and set goals to significantly improve quality of nursing home care, provide technical assistance to nursing homes that want to improve care, and regularly report on progress to achieve these goals. The campaign acknowledges the critical role of nursing home staff in providing that care.

Supporters of the campaign are committed to working together to engage nursing homes in the goals of this campaign in order to achieve real progress in quality of care; the campaign is larger than the sum of its parts. The campaign supporters believe that quality nursing home care should be an automatic expectation for everyone, nothing less.

Advancing Excellence in America's Nursing Homes will assess progress toward achieving the following measurable goals:

Advancing Excellence in America's Nursing Homes builds on the work and goals of previous quality initiatives such as the Nursing Home Quality Initiative (NHQI), Quality First, and others, bringing these initiatives (and their supporters) together to help foster continued quality improvement in nursing homes. Joining the campaign can help nursing homes implement many of the goals of NHQI and Quality First.
