Urinary Incontinence

Improvement in the urinary incontinence outcome is demonstrated by an increase in the percentage of patients who were previously urine incontinent and are now continent. Higher percentages are better.

Urinary incontinence can severely limit the mobility of the patient due to the risk of embarrassment from the leakage of urine. Urinary incontinence may result from multiple causes including physiologic reasons, cognitive impairments or mobility problems.

The home health provider will determine if the patient is having difficulty controlling their urine. They should also assess if a patient is embarrassed about needing to wear a pad so as not to wet clothing.
