Falls

Falls are a serious health risk to older adults; in the United States, an estimated 30% of people over 65 have a fall in any given year. These are a significant source of disability and death, as well as a serious threat to psychological and physical health.

Because of the high incidence of falls in the elderly, home health agencies can serve an important role in preventing falls by addressing environmental risk factors (eliminating clutter, removing throw rugs or replacing bar soap with liquid soap) and clinical risk factors (polypharmacy, deconditioning, onset of new conditions, etc).

Primaris encourages home health agencies help minimize their patients' risk of falling. Click here to access the MAHC Fall Prevention Program.
