Staff Education and Training
Training can be customized to meet the needs of your home health agency. Popular training sessions include:
- OASIS Update: 3-hour training session for clinical staff on OASIS tips to improve accuracy and consistency in assessing and answering OASIS items. The emphasis will be on items that impact reimbursement and quality outcome measures. This program addresses the OASIS-B1 items up until November 2009; beginning in December 2009 we will offer training on the new OASIS-C items.
- Coding Tips for Home Health Clinicians: 3.5-hour training session for clinical staff and coders including guidelines for coding principles focusing on common home health diagnoses, how to determine the primary and secondary diagnoses, severity ratings, relationship between diagnoses/codes in MO230/240/246 and specific OASIS items, case-mix diagnoses and impact on reimbursement and outcome risk adjustment.
- Tips for OASIS Assessments: 2-hour training session for clinical staff on how to perform a comprehensive assessment efficiently. The training will focus on the Start of Care visit, and offer techniques to gather pertinent assessment information in an accurate and timely manner. These techniques can be applied to Resumption of Care, Follow Up, and Discharge assessments as well.
Coding
Primaris offers coding services for Start of Care, Resumption of Care and Follow-Up OASIS assessments. Coding services are performed by a certified HCS-D. We will provide ICD-9-CM codes for diagnoses listed on OASIS items MO190, 210, 230, 240, and 246 on the assessment. We will identify potential coding problems.
